Context

The King Baudouin Foundation manages more than 1,500 projects and funds within its thematic programs. To ensure this runs smoothly, we use various IT and digital tools, designed, implemented, and monitored by internal staff members and a range of external partners.

The King Baudouin is looking for a Data Engineer (m/f/x) in order to support the Technology team and especially the development and maintenance of a Data Warehouse. The Data Engineer will work closely with the Data Portfolio Manager and the Head of Technology and will be part of a Technology team of 6 persons.

Your responsibilities 

  • You implement and maintain data pipelines from data sources to our data platform
  • You implement and maintain different layers in the data platform in a medallion architecture: Bronze, Silver, Gold
  • You implement and maintain business logic transformations of data and ETL between the different layers
  • You optimize and develop the data architecture
  • You improve data integrations between operational systems
  • You ensure data quality: regular testing and controls
  • You ensure data security at all stages
  • You manage the user accesses
  • You train technical users on the different components
  • You document and update current documentation
  • You report regularly on the advancement of the project to the team
  • You follow-up tickets and project management
  • You will be assigned further other Data engineering projects

Your profile

  • You have a first experience as a Data Engineer, with a solid foundation in data-related tasks
  • You have a solid experience with the following tools: Git, Microsoft Azure cloud technologies: Fabric, Azure Databricks, Power BI, Azure Data Factory
  • You know how to code in: Python, Spark and SQL
  • You have a very good knowledge of :
    • Databases principles
    • ETL principles
    • Pipelines best practices
    • Coding best practices (Git, CI/CD, Documentation, etc)
    • DevOps principles
    • Data Security
    • Data architecture
  • You have knowledge of data integration and middleware, even better if you know Boomi.
  • You bring hands-on experience in project follow-up and coordination, ensuring smooth execution and timely delivery.
  • You are self-driven and take initiative with confidence, always ready to move things forward.
  • You are highly organized and meticulous, with a sharp eye for detail and a structured approach to work.
  • You communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and speaking, across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • You are passionate about contributing to projects that have a meaningful societal impact.
  • You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy building strong, positive team dynamics.
  • You embrace new challenges as opportunities to learn and evolve
  • You are fluent in either Dutch or French, and you have an excellent knowledge of English.
